Personal:

When I was young, I ran local fun runs with my family, but nothing more. I watched my dad, mom, and 2 older brothers begin running and decided to try it out. During the spring of 6th grade, I ran 3 miles a couple times a week with my dad and have loved running ever since. I ran local 5ks and even a half marathon. In 7th grade I watched Conner, my older brother, run cross country and decided that I wanted to try it.

High School: Really enjoyed it all so much, grateful for all of the friendships I made while doing it. There were ups and downs, but it was a wonderful experience!

I enjoy running, playing piano, painting, skiing, and hiking. Life is totally worth living. Running my favorite meditation. I ran for Sky View High School. I served a mission in the Adriatic North Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Not yet sure what my plans are with running these next few month, but I am looking forward to an exciting future!

Drove down with my dad. It was a good day. I didn't warm up enough for the 1 mile, because I was worried I would miss being called.  I then stood there waiting as they called all the heats before mine (I was in the 5th). When they finally got around to mine, the nerves kicked in.  It was nice that the girls around me were super chill.  The mile started out super fast.  The entire first 3 laps, I was just trying to catch the lead pack. The last 2 laps, I was planning to go, but everytime I began, I would get cut off.  It was all good.  I finally got up there the last lap.  On the final stretch I really gave it everything. I knew I was gonna hit the time, but I wanted to really beat the girls around me.  Normally, I can't sprint, but I had a little extra in me. When I crossed the line, I accidentally knocked into a girl, because I couldn't slow my momentum.  I felt really good.  My time was a 5:34 which is my indoor pr, so I was happy.  I cooled down almost a mile outside which always feels good.  I used my spikes, but I haven't worn spikes in awhile, and my calves were definitely feeling it.

A couple of hours later, I warmed uo for the 2 mile.  Again, I don't think I warmed up enough, but it was okay.  I mostly was trying to get myself pumped. I also accidentally entered my seedtime as 12:51 instead of 11:51, which is what I was hoping to hit under.  The first few laps there was a pack, but girls slowly dropped off. I knew if I stuck with the 2 lead girls I would hit my goal time.  Our mile was around a 5:30-40, which was really good/fast. The last three laps, though, I fell behind.  My calves were burning.  I was trying to get on my toes, but it resulted in what felt like heel-striking, but was more flat footed.  The two in front of me also started to go, and I couldn't keep up. The last lap, I sped up quite a bit and finished with a time of 11:40, so I was happy. It was a nice track, being only 5 laps per mile.  I then watched the guys race, and cooled down with them.  We ended up doing 3 miles, which was great.  The entire time I was just trying to keep up with them.  We simply ran around campus which was super fun. My calves were hurting really bad, so my plan for next week is to go easy.

Thanks Spence! You did awesome, too! That was a fun day. I saw about your injury, I hope your leg gets better, soon.
