Really happy about today. Got a good nights sleep and both physically and mentally was ready. Warmed up about 1.5 and everything felt good. I was so pumped to finally run the mile on this track. Had multiple good game-plans in mind. When we went into the bull-pen, I still wasn't really nervous, just ready. I was seeded 19th, but that didn't even get to me, all I cared about was time. One thing I focused on was the fact that it was just another race, because state always seems to be the race I think too much about. The few strides we did I felt a little off, but I was just getting a feel for the track. We were on the start line and I was so happy to be there, I couldn't stop smiling! The first start was a false start, and the next minute was pretty nerve-racking. The second start was much better, and we were off. I was in the back, but knowing it would be fast, I just relaxed. The first lap was fast, but the pack I was with was pretty tight. The second lap was comfortable, I think this was when the first group broke off, but I was just behind the second. 500m left was when the race truly started. A group pulled away and I passed the behind girls to catch them. I should've stayed in the middle of this pack, because the rest of the last lap consisted of me trying to catch just them. I felt amazing, though. With 300 to go I really pushed. I don't remember much, but on the last 100m we were all hauling, and it felt good. I was trying to pass some girls, but never caught them. We were all really close. Finished with a 4 second pr. Really happy and grateful after the race. Everybody did amazing, and it was so much fun.
Cooled down a mile, then watched the boys race. After a while, I went with a bunch of hobby joggers for a cool down that was plenty longer than expected. It was still a blast. Most of the guys turned around after a mile out, but Brielle and I went another half mile. She didn't have on shoes, so the two of us turned around. The whole day was a party. Watching all the people race was even more fun, because they all did so well.
