Personal:

When I was young, I ran local fun runs with my family, but nothing more. I watched my dad, mom, and 2 older brothers begin running and decided to try it out. During the spring of 6th grade, I ran 3 miles a couple times a week with my dad and have loved running ever since. I ran local 5ks and even a half marathon. In 7th grade I watched Conner, my older brother, run cross country and decided that I wanted to try it.

High School: Really enjoyed it all so much, grateful for all of the friendships I made while doing it. There were ups and downs, but it was a wonderful experience!

I enjoy running, playing piano, painting, skiing, and hiking. Life is totally worth living. Running my favorite meditation. I ran for Sky View High School. I served a mission in the Adriatic North Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Not yet sure what my plans are with running these next few month, but I am looking forward to an exciting future!

Only went 3.  I wasn't feeling so great and I didn't want to push it, so I got a couple of miles in.

Only went 3, again.  It was a lot of fun to run with the team, except everybody's beginning to slow down because they're not as pumped to run or something.  I'm still super excited and pumped to simply be running with people that I just go fast, but I don't push it too much.  At first everybody was going as fast as they possible could which is okay, but now they aren't pushing it as much.  I'm wondering if there is some way to push everybody to not slow down.

Ran with my dad today instead of Saturday because I wouldn't have time then.  I was super pumped up before and we started with really two miles at first, but then my feet began to hurt.  I still don't think my shoes are broken in, but my dad says I need new shoes which I don't want to worry about because I really love my new shoes.  After about two miles my feet didn't hurt as bad and I tried to go faster.  It was really weird because I had all this energy as if I could go as fast as I wanted, but my feet hurt and it was hard to go.  When we began going downhill I got going faster.  I felt really good afterwards.  It was a lot of fun!

It was really warm and I felt really good.  I pushed it a lot because it felt as if I hadn't run in forever when it was actually two days.

This morning I ran with the team about 3 miles.  It was quite a bit of fun except people need to push their speed more.  I needed to get more miles in so this afternoon I went another quick three.   I'm planning on running the Health Days 5K and I'm still going to train for the half, so I want a chance to sort of taper.  That's why I ran in the afternoon and morning which I don't plan on doing too much of, but it's really helpful for more miles.

Did the Little Ugly at school.  It was a lot of fun.  I just kept at a pretty constant pace  with short steps.  I was one of the few who didn't walk up at all.  We stopped about a third the way up and waited for everybody else to get up.  After a while, we began going down and because it's gravel, I didn't want to slip so I went slowly.  When we got to the end of the gravel road and onto the street, I began sprinting down the hill because I wasn't worried about slipping. I didn't really feel any burn the rest of the day because I'm used to going up hills already.  I can't wait to do the big ugly.

Woke up and ran the Health Days 5K.  I really wanted to get first overall in womens because last year I got second and the year before I got fourth.  Conner offered to pace me which is why he is one of the best older brothers ever.  I was pretty nervous because I wanted to PR and place first.  When it started I was planning to go slow, but I went faster than I had expected.  We were going up the canyon and around mile 1 my calves started hurting, but I kept pushing it.  When I got to the turn around point, my calves were burning, but I wanted to keep up with Conner.  Down the hill felt pretty good, except for my calves.  I didn't get a PR, but I still did win fisrt girl which made me really happy.

After awards and everybody began leaving, I ran home slowly because I needed to get my long run in.  I took some detours to make it three more miles.  When I got home I asked my dad if I could run with him to the parade.  We ran four miles down their and I kept up with him pretty well because he wanted a certain average pace which was faster than I expected.  I had a really fun running day because I just ran wherever I needed to go which was different, but a lot of fun.

I left later in the afternoon when it was blazing hot.  I think it was high 70s, but I have no idea.  I was planning on going more, but I was dying in the heat.  I like the heat more than the cold, but I'm not used to this hot yet.

Went to the school with the team.  Because I am tapering, I went very slow.  We went to see a cow get soaped down which was something you don't see every day.

It was very wet.  It rained the entire time.  Before it started, I didn't get much of a warm-up in because I didn't want to get very wet and it was pretty crowded. I wore plastic bags on my shoes, a sweatshirt and pajama pants until we had to drop our bags.  After I dropped my bag, I put on a garbage bag to keep from getting too wet before the start.  The start was a little unsure, but luckily it was chip time.  Right before I crossed the start line I took off my garbage bag.

I passed so many people at the beginning and for a while I thought I might have been going a little too fast, but I felt like I was going at a good pace.  Whenever we came up to a longer downhill (and there were a lot of those) I would let my stride get really long which would make me go super fast down the hill and pass so many people.  Whenever I came to a longer uphill I would shorten my stride and make my feet closer to the ground which also made me pass a lot of people.  That was my main strategy to go fast on up and downhills and go at a good pace when it was flat.

Around mile 3 I saw this kid and I thought I should just hang by him because that usually motivates me.  I just kept running and getting wet.  It wasn't too cold while I was running, it was just wet.  The canyon was really pretty, though.  I had fun watching the scenery (sort of).  Around mile 10 the kid went faster and I couldn't keep up with him because I was tired and there were a lot of bumps which I am not used to at all.  When I turned the street which I knew was the finish line I started to sprint because I knew it was right there, I was excited to finish, and I always enjoy sprinting to pass a bunch of people.  The weird thing was that the finish wasn't as big as it usually was (probably because of the rain).  I couldn't read the banner over head until I was much closer.  Before I crossed the line I look over at the finish which said 1:09 and I realized I looked at the marathon time.  I hurried and caught a glimpse of the half which was 1:38 and I was psyched.  I crossed the finish!

I was soaking wet and cold! I got my medal and got a chocolate milk.  Once I found  my family I grabbed my drop bag and we hurried to the car to drive down to BYU where Conner was going to run at state which I really wanted to watch.  I was super happy with my time finding out I really got 1:37:34 and getting first in my age group which was 13-18!  I was so happy.

So I planned on running to Sky View to get some hill work in.  It seems as if every time I do this route something happens which is true.  I didn't know there was a Triatholan that day at that exact time I decided to run until I began running passed all these runners.  Then I saw some bikers coming in and I realized what was going on.  I hate it when I make people confused and begin going the wrong way, so I changed my course which was a bad idea because it mentally messed up my run.  I went really slow, but I was off of the course.  It was also really hot and I was only planning on 5, but instead I did about 6.5.

I'm now training for the Utah Valley Half Marathon which is in two weeks, so I had to get some more long runs in.  I ran with my dad and it felt pretty good.  We did 8, then ran a mile with Ruby, my dog, which was a lot of fun.

Because it was Memorial Day, I ran in the morning which made it feel like summer.  It was hot that morning, but I was planning on just going a good pace.

Ran with the cross country team and we were only planning on doing the Little Ugly because we were planning on doing the Big Ugly on Thursday.  We started running up it, but we didn't know where we were supposed to turn around. Accidentally, we ran the entire way up.  There truly is nothing little or pretty about the Big Ugly. It was fun because the entire way up I just kept a good slow pace which made me go faster because it is so long and steep.  On the way down we just relaxed and went super fast which was kind of scary because it's a dirt road. Afterwards, my calves kind of hurt, but it was good pain so I was glad.

I was really excited to run the Big Ugly (again).  There were more kids from Sky View which made me even more excited.  We started out at a good pace until we got to the hill where everybody of course slows down.  As I went up the hill I felt pretty good although I was alone most of the time. I kept at a good short stride, but I pumped my arms quickly.  The only person who passed me up the hill was Coach Wright which also made me happy.  When I got to the top, there was water, but it was placed differently which made me have to stop to get it.  I probably shouldn't have stopped, but you can't say no to water.  When I turned around I just relaxed and sped up.  When  I turned the corner and could see the finish I just sprinted as fast as I could for fun because there was nobody to pass.  It was a lot of fun and I got first girl because most of the girls were doing it for a work out.  I don't know what my time was, but that's okay because it was probably slow which means I don't want to know it.
