Personal:

When I was young, I ran local fun runs with my family, but nothing more. I watched my dad, mom, and 2 older brothers begin running and decided to try it out. During the spring of 6th grade, I ran 3 miles a couple times a week with my dad and have loved running ever since. I ran local 5ks and even a half marathon. In 7th grade I watched Conner, my older brother, run cross country and decided that I wanted to try it.

High School: Really enjoyed it all so much, grateful for all of the friendships I made while doing it. There were ups and downs, but it was a wonderful experience!

I enjoy running, playing piano, painting, skiing, and hiking. Life is totally worth living. Running my favorite meditation. I ran for Sky View High School. I served a mission in the Adriatic North Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Not yet sure what my plans are with running these next few month, but I am looking forward to an exciting future!

Didn't want to admit to not being able to run. My foot was hurting pretty bad walking around school. Still went to practice thinking I could run something. Warmed up a mile with Clara, and I hobbled the whole time. There was a tree that had fallen on our course and stopping to get over it was a relief. Talked to Coach after he gave the workout. The walk from the track to the weight room was pretty depressing. Got on the spin bike. I tried correlating the track workout on the bike. 200 at r, 100 at i, 100 at f ongoing with a 400 recovery in between 5 to 7 times. Times were supposed to be 40, 21/22, 18 or less. I did 40 seconds hard, 20 seconds semi hard, then 20 seconds all out on the bike after warming up. In between each break was 2 minutes. Did 6 sets. Finished up to 6 miles biking. Pretty miserable, but the plan is to stay off it until BYU.  At home I iced for 40 minutes. Later, I did a really hard core workout. Wasn't too exhausted after.

It was a better day. My foot didn't hurt as badly. Was going to do a pool running workout, but decided to bike. Everybody was doing an easy recovery workout, so I just biked for 30 minutes. Felt pretty good, but that thing makes your butt hurt. Grabbed a drink after 15 and 25 minutes. Kept the pace pretty consistent. Idk how to set the resistance, but the spin thing said I did 9 miles at about 19 mph. It was really hot in the weight room, which made me sweat more than usual. School wasn't out when I was done, so did 3 minutes of planks (pretty easy, but was sore from yesterday). Then went on the track to talk to the guys and haven't laughed so hard in a while.  Iced at home for over an hour (20 min on, 20 off) and did some easy core.

Foot felt good enough to run, but I played it safe. Biked, but planned to simulate a tempo run. Warmed up for 10 minutes and was already tired. Started pretty hard hoping to go for 20-30 mintes. I may have been going harder than tempo, but it is hard to find a consistent pace while biking. After 5 minutes, I was super tired. Hopped off, grabbed a quick drink. My pulse was so hard, I could feel it in my neck, which doesn't exactly feel as easy as tempo. Did 5 more minutes at similar intensity. My legs burned pretty badly, and it was super hot in the weight room. I don't want to kill myself for this weekend, but at the same time, I don't  want to be too fresh. I got in 10 miles total on the spin bike, wasn't super far.

Helped out with our blue and white that was supposed to be a tri meet, but none of the schools showed up. It was pretty fun chillin in the box recording times, and the meet went by super fast. Later, I iced for about an hour like yesterday.

Biked for 20 minutes to get in 6.5 miles. Physically feel really good for BYU, it's just a matter if my foot will hold out.

Not super happy with this race. Like Orem, it physically felt like a jog in the park. Warmed up quite a bit. It definitely felt good to run, but my foot hurt. I just jogged around. More than anything, I thought about being able to run, not so much the race mentality. Right before Coach asked me how the foot felt, and I wanted to race so bad. This track is my favorite. Did a bunch of strides on the grass, and the 2 on the track. The race finally came around. I really wasn't nervous which was nice. I really don't remember who I was by or who I passed/got passed by. The whole time it was a mental/physical fight. The first 3 laps were comfortable pace wise. My foot hurt. I was able to stay on my toes those laps, then it hurt too much. I had a break down during the race... I didn't want to not finish. After I mustered up my emotions, I decided to just heel strike or simply not run on my toes. Our mile was a 5:40, still on pace for a pr, but the second mile had to be a negative split. Lap 5 and 6 I felt mentally strong. A few times I tried to go with girls, but it took too much of a toll on my foot. When everybody began sprinting, I couldn't go, either. I pretty much strided in the rest of the race. Wasn't very tired after. Didn't cool down because running hurt. I feel physically at my best, just can't run as well as I'd like to. Later, I asked a few people how I looked during my race, and they said I didn't look smooth. Makes sense because it hurts landing on my foot. I'm grateful for all of those patient people who were willing to help and listen.

It was still fun chilling, and everybody who raced killed it.

It was a ton of fun chilling at BYU. I watched all of the miles. Coach had me not run the mile to stay off of my foot to be ready for region. It was okay. BYU is a party and it's a ton of fun to see so many people. Again, everybody who raced killed it.

Really wanted to run, but my foot still hurt. God news: it doesn't hurt to walk anymore! Yay! Biked. I was 5 minutes into my warmup, when I had to go figure out something with my AP test and region being the same day. Walked around a ton, then went up to the track to talk to my coaches. Then went back to the school. I did jog with another girl in the same dilemma about an 8th of a mile, but I won't count it. It hurt. Finally got back on the bike, and school was out. Warmed up 5 more minutes. Simulated the workout: 2 sets of 200 @ r, 600 @ tempo, 300 @ f. The times I was supposed to hit were 40, 2:20ish, 60 (or less) continuous. I figured out how to change the resistance on the bikes. Just hit the amount of time with the same level of effort (kinda). The first set was really good. Full recovery for 5 minutes which may have been long. Second set was good, too. At the end of the second set, my all out was whatever I had, and I went hard. I checked my pulse right after because it was fast. It was around a 180, meanig I must've been going hard. Cooled down for 10 more minutes.

Way pumped about today! My foot didn't hurt very bad which was wonderful. Had a perfect amount of time to get ready, run home to grab something, and warm up. It was a beautiful day, a little hot, but the perfect amount. Warmed up way too early. Went 1 on the course, then jogged around with Clara. My foot didn't hurt too much. When we did strecthes I began feeling it. I just focused on the race. One thing I wanted to work on was staying smooth. The strides were pretty good, but I definitely felt my foot. When we got on the line, I got super nervous. I had a strategy in mind. The start was a little rough, felt too slow. I was in the whole pack. Our first 200 was a 34, and I still was making my way up. Our first lap was a 75, and I felt comfortable. I caught a pack of 3 freemont girls. I could hear girls behind us, but I never knew wherw they were. The second lap was pushed, but I just stuck behind them. The third lap, I wanted to go, but my foot was hurting. About gave up during the third lap, I didn't care if I made it, but at 400 left, I wanted state. I tried to pass the pack but was boxed in. With 300 to go, Russain Interval went through my mind. I got on my toes and went. With 100 to go, I was hurting. My thighs burned, and my foot killed. The two girls passed me, and I freaked out. Looked back with 50 to go, and I had a good gap so just strided in. If I hadn't hurt so bad, I would've gone with the girls. I was so happy to be done with worrying. Pumped to make it to state! Also, I PRd and broke the school record which were my season goals.

It was fun watching the guys race and qualify. So many people did amazing qualifying which makes me pumped for state. About an hour after my race (foot began to feel better), finally went on a cool down with a bunch of guys. It was pretty dope. We went on the course, continued on lower canal, then to Mack Park. It felt super good to be out and running. We ended up going over 2.5 miles. It was such a party today! Pumped for tomorrow.

Not a super good race. My shin was pretty sore all day, probably from running on my foot different. I wasn't mentally ready for this race. It was super hot. Warmed up over a mile and a half, felt funny running on my foot. Yesterday my foot hurt during the day, but not so bad when warming up; today, it didn't hurt until I started running. Did the strecthes while worrying more about the foot than the race. When we got on the starting line, I didn't know what to expect. I should have had a better motivation for the race. I was hoping for a good time, but I raced for the points our coaches wanted. Our start took it's time. Felt like a jog in the park, a really hot park. I passed the pack. Mckenna wasn't too far ahead, but the gap grew. The pack was on me the whole time. I thought I would pull away, but it just got harder. By the third lap I wanted to give up, everything was already sore. Just kept pushing. On the 7th lap, three Freemont girls started to go around me. I fought to stay up. The last lap I was ready to go, but it hurt. The whole race I wasn't on my toes; good thing I wore flats. I tried to pull away at 300, but they stuck. 200 left two of em passed me again, and I was done. I couldn't get on my toes. It's okay, but I wished I could've raced better or gotten a decent time. My foot was hurting, and my calves and thighs were pretty dead. I cooled down a mile with the guys. It was fun watching everyone race. It was also a party hangin out and talkin to everybody. Later did one more mile. Everything is pretty tired, but pumoed for state!

We were all pretty sore from region, so today was an easy recovery day. Kelsee, Rachel, and I were pretty tired of running on the road, so we drove up to dry canyon. Going up was pretty hard, but it was super easy. The weather was hot and dry, but it was nice being up the canyon. When we got to the shade, it felt plenty better. After 1.5 up we turned around. Our pace sped up a ton, but we still went nice and easy. It was fun talking and we enjoyed ourselves. Foot didn't hurt, but whole body was dead. We averaged a little under 11 minute miles.

Woke up pretty early to run. It was super nice and pretty out, I miss running in the morning. Brought Ruby with me. She struggled after the first mile, but after we turned around, she sped up. Foot wasn't hurting too bad. Our miles were 8:09, 8:12, 8:43, and 8:49. They were slow, but my legs were still beat from region. I attempted to do strides. After the first few steps, my foot would hurt tok much. I stopped trying after the 3rd. Later went on a pretty fun 3 mile hike. Senoir Prom with spencemoney was a blast.

Good, short workout today. Warmed up 1.25 with Rachel, Coach, and Ethan. Rachel was sweet enough to do today's workout with me. It was 2 sets of 200 @ r, 400 @ tempo, and 200 @ f. The first set was really good. I started with Ethan, making my start way too fast. Halfway through the 400, coach started with me, and finished. Rachel was on my tail the whole time. The splits were 36, 1:25, and 37. My total time was a 2:39 which is 5 seconds slower than my 800 pr, lol. Took a long recovey. Did 400 easy, got a drink, stretched. Finally did the last set. I focused more on hitting the tempo. Felt really good until the last 200. Didn't mentally get to sprinting until the last 100. Rachel was in front the whole time, and didn't catch her. Splits were 38, 1:26, 38. All of my tempo was supposed to be a 1:35, so it was WAY to fast. My legs and stomach really felt the second set after I finished. Then we cooled down a mile nice and slow.

Super quick workout, but felt really good. Warmed up 1.25 with Rachel. 2x800 @ tempo with 1 minute recovery in between. The splits were 2:50 and 2:49. The first lap was always way too fast, like race or i pace, but the second lap was on pretty well for both of them. Was supposed to hit a 3:10, so they were both way too fast. At the last 50, Rachel was always ahead of me, so I'd try to pass her, and we'd both speed up. After the second, my thighs could feel it, but going fast just felt easy. It was nice having Rachel there to push me. Cooled down another 1.25. During the cool down my legs were pretty tired, but they'll be fresh by the weekend.

Didn't go to a single full class except track because I took my ap stats test the first half of the day, then got drug tested during 4th hour. It was a really quick workout 2 sets of 15 seconds on, 15 off 5 times. It was a super hot day. Rachel and I warmed up on the lower canal past Sunrise, the took a left towards sv starting the first set. It was mentally easy, but physically hard. Turned around at sv, then jogged over to church run. Did the second set at the start of church run. It was physically easier, but mentally tougher. Cooled down where we warmed up. Behind sunrise we passed Connor and Ethan. Some kids were playig redrover, but when they saw the guys they told em to put their shirts on. I'm glad they straight up told em how it is. Rachel and I died of laughter. Finished to 3.5 at about 8:03 overall pace. My legs are a little tired, but I'm ready to race!

Last premeet of the season. Went on tree of life with Kelsee and Rachel. Came back on lower canal, then went up on the road for our course. Did a bunch of strides to feel everything out. Feeling ready to race. Jogged around the track to round out mileage.

Really happy about today. Got a good nights sleep and both physically and mentally was ready. Warmed up about 1.5 and everything felt good. I was so pumped to finally run the mile on this track. Had multiple good game-plans in mind. When we went into the bull-pen, I still wasn't really nervous, just ready. I was seeded 19th, but that didn't even get to me, all I cared about was time. One thing I focused on was the fact that it was just another race, because state always seems to be the race I think too much about. The few strides we did I felt a little off, but I was just getting a feel for the track. We were on the start line and I was so happy to be there, I couldn't stop smiling! The first start was a false start, and the next minute was pretty nerve-racking. The second start was much better, and we were off. I was in the back, but knowing it would be fast, I just relaxed. The first lap was fast, but the pack I was with was pretty tight. The second lap was comfortable, I think this was when the first group broke off, but I was just behind the second.  500m left was when the race truly started.  A group pulled away and I passed the behind girls to catch them.  I should've stayed in the middle of this pack, because the rest of the last lap consisted of me trying to catch just them.  I felt amazing, though. With 300 to go I really pushed. I don't remember much, but on the last 100m we were all hauling, and it felt good. I was trying to pass some girls, but never caught them.  We were all really close. Finished with a 4 second pr. Really happy and grateful after the race. Everybody did amazing, and it was so much fun.

Cooled down a mile, then watched the boys race. After a while, I went with a bunch of hobby joggers for a cool down that was plenty longer than expected.  It was still a blast. Most of the guys turned around after a mile out, but Brielle and I went another half mile. She didn't have on shoes, so the two of us turned around. The whole day was a party. Watching all the people race was even more fun, because they all did so well.

This was a good end to the season.  My stomach wasn't feeling the best when I woke up, possibly from having dinner around 10:00.  Only got around 5 and a half hours of sleep, too. I was happy to make it in the 3200, but I didn't feel as ready as the mile. Calves were sore from yesterday. Warmed up 1.5 miles, like yesterday.  I was really worried because I didn't see many girls warming up for the 2 mile. I shouldn't have let that get to me, but it did make me change up my normal warm-up routine. When I did my stretches, my foot wasn't feeling too good. I mostly ignored it, which was maybe the best thing.  I didn't want to focus on it instead of racing.  I grabbed my spikes, but ran back (a little last minute) and got my flats instead.  It was a little chillier, but not too bad. When we walked onto the track, it started to rain lightly. The start was pretty clean. I felt amazing the entire first mile.  I was so tight in the pack, my shins did get kicked multiple times, but never too hard and never got spiked. The first lap was slower than I had expected. I just kinda went with the lead 6 girls.  They were all really fast, but I stuck with them, and felt physically good. The third lap started to hurt, but I just kept going with them. While we were racing, the song Stressed Out by 21 Pilots was playing and I was just jamming out like a workout. The first mile was a 5:30.  That was when I got dropped hard.  The girls who I was with were all going for a negative split. I just kept pushing. I knew to push the laps 5 and 6, but my legs were tired.  I just kept running. Not sure when, but two AF girls caught me and I stuck with them for a while.  They dropped me during lap 7, and I just pushed. On the last lap, I had to hit under 1:20 to pr.  I pushed, but my legs wouldn't go much faster.  On the last 200 I passed a girl, but she passed me right before the finish. Finished around the time I did at the Davis Invitational which is my third fastest time. I'm still pretty happy about it.  My foot hurt after I finished. The rain got a little heavier. Glad to finish the season well. I had no motivation to do a cool down. Coach gave me 3 reasons why I didn't have to, so I didn't. My calves did end up tightening up, but it's okay; good thing I'm taking a break. I am so ready for a good break to let my whole body heal, relax, and be ready for summer training.

Had a blast hanging out with everybody. So many people did awesome in their races, which were so much fun watching. This season had it's ups and downs, but it has really strengthened me. I'm grateful for the help and support from coaches, friends, and parents. It was weird this year without Conner, but he was still helpful and motivating through email. I can't wait to see what happens next year.

Was gonna take a longer break, but also wanted to try running with Nathan. Haven't ran once since state, but I have hiked a little. Last Wednesday we had a kids camp where I tried the sticks out, but after the first stride, my foot gave out, so I stopped. I was so excited to run! After the first quarter of a mile, my foot hurt (not bad, but slightly enough), so we finished out the mile. Nate did awesome getting an 8:11. I hopped on the bike and we did one more mile. Hopefully it will stop hurting, even the slightest bit.
