Personal:

When I was young, I ran local fun runs with my family, but nothing more. I watched my dad, mom, and 2 older brothers begin running and decided to try it out. During the spring of 6th grade, I ran 3 miles a couple times a week with my dad and have loved running ever since. I ran local 5ks and even a half marathon. In 7th grade I watched Conner, my older brother, run cross country and decided that I wanted to try it.

High School: Really enjoyed it all so much, grateful for all of the friendships I made while doing it. There were ups and downs, but it was a wonderful experience!

I enjoy running, playing piano, painting, skiing, and hiking. Life is totally worth living. Running my favorite meditation. I ran for Sky View High School. I served a mission in the Adriatic North Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Not yet sure what my plans are with running these next few month, but I am looking forward to an exciting future!

For practice we did upper canal. When we first started, I could still feel my calves, but the last couple of easy days helped. Started with a big pack of girls, but Arianna and I pulled away when we got off to the canal. Felt really good the whole time. We made it to the end, and began to run back. The girls weren't too far behind, so we turned back around with them and ran the rest of the canal with them. Once we were off of the canal, we took advantage of the downhill. 8:22 average pace for 7.72 miles.

In the heat of the afternoon, I went up the canyon. I really tried to push myself, and it felt really good. Rounded my mileage out with 5.28 miles at 7:29 average pace.

It was one of those days that I didn't wanna run... Later in the morning, Ruby and I ran 3 miles on hillside in either 22 or 23 minutes, so 7:20-40 average pace. I was pretty tired and was gonna run in the afternoon, but didn't.

Today at practice, we had a mile time trial for those who didn't have a v dot number. Rachel and I led the warmups, which makes it so weird to be a senior. We did a mile on the course and attempted to explain our 5K course, haha. When we were back on the track, the boys ran their mile first, then the girls. I was really pumped to run on our resurfaced track, but it kinda sucked. It was really hard and not as bouncy. Hopefully, it will be nicer when track rolls around. I was hoping for close to a 5:30, but I wasn't really ready to run a mile that fast. It ended up being a 5:55. My motivation wasn't there, so I had fun with it. After everybody got their numbers (lol, mine was 10 less than what it really is/should be), we did a workout. All at race pace, 500 hard, 400 recovery, 400 hard, 300 recovery, 300 hard, 200 recovery, 200 hard, 100 recovery, 100 hard, 100 recovery, 100 hard. It was really fun becuase we had a solid pack of girls up front. I lost the times recorded, but my race pace splits were about: 1:43, 1:21 (both slow), 59, 38, 20, and 18. The first 100 was funny becuase there were a bunch of people and we were attempting to go around them. We cooled down on the course. It was a fun day of practice. It was around 4.75 miles.

In the evening, I did 8 up the canyon. It felt super good. It was also really hot. On top of that, the air was pretty bad from the fires. As I got further up the canyon, the air got better and cooler. Each mile-marker, I thought "one more." 7:41 average pace. It was a fun long run.

Didn't end up running because we were driving all day (and started much later than expected).

My cousin, Rachel, is training for a marathon, so we planned to run a 13 mile loop together. We were in Monticello and it was 5:45 am when we started. We started up a road, and ended up looking for a road for a while. We then missed a turn and made it to dude ranch, so we turned around. When we found the turn, we were pretty set. It was a really fun run. The trees were really pretty against the gray sky. It rained twice really hard, almost a flash flood. The road became really slick both times. We were super muddy and soaked by the end. Each mile was around 10 minutes, but felt like 3. It was a fun time talking and the run went by super fast. We got to the highway, and ran on in for over 2 miles. We went up a really long hill through devil's canyon (?), then ran back to our cabins. Our average pace was 9:25, which was nice and slow, but felt amazing. This is probably my longest run, ever, and it wasn't too bad.

In the afternoon, we hiked up to an indian ruin, and my legs could feel the run.

I had to do hill repeats, and Rachel, Lynette, and their husbands were down to do hills, too. We warmed up 2 miles looking for a hill, and the best one was up to the big lodge. We did 10 sets. It was .11 miles, and I usually hit it in 40-42 seconds. We all recovered back down together, and started at the bottom. Jon would always sprint past me after the curve and wreck me, but it was good to be pushed. Lynette and Rachel would finish not too far behind, and Paul would turn around as we came back. It was really fun. We cooled down back to the pavillion, then us girls ran 2 more miles to get to 6. It was a fun day.
