Personal:

When I was young, I ran local fun runs with my family, but nothing more. I watched my dad, mom, and 2 older brothers begin running and decided to try it out. During the spring of 6th grade, I ran 3 miles a couple times a week with my dad and have loved running ever since. I ran local 5ks and even a half marathon. In 7th grade I watched Conner, my older brother, run cross country and decided that I wanted to try it.

High School: Really enjoyed it all so much, grateful for all of the friendships I made while doing it. There were ups and downs, but it was a wonderful experience!

I enjoy running, playing piano, painting, skiing, and hiking. Life is totally worth living. Running my favorite meditation. I ran for Sky View High School. I served a mission in the Adriatic North Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Not yet sure what my plans are with running these next few month, but I am looking forward to an exciting future!

It was a hot day, but luckily premeet. I had a dentist appointment, so I jogged to and from that which ended up being a little over a mile.  Then, I did 2 more miles.  When I got to the track, I did 2x200 at r pace with a 200 in between.  I didn't know that the 200s were supposed to be part of the 3 miles, but it's okay. Then, I got some ice and ate it which was refreshing.

We woke up early to get on the bus to BYU even though I wasn't running at all today.  I didn't know if we were supposed to do anything, but I knew we had to do premeet.  Before all the events started we jogged around the track quite a bit.  Throughout the day we jogged, but didn't really get any specific distance, so I think it adds up to 2 miles.  It was a fun day, though.

I was super excited to run today!  Because the 1600 was the first event, we were able to do a warmup on the track and we did about 3/4 a mile including stretches.  The day before I did plenty of visualization and I had checked the heats and times.  I had the perfect strategy figured out and hoped it would flow great.  Conner told me to go all out on the last 800 instead of 600 which I wasn't positive if I would follow that, but I guess I did.

When we finally got called I wasn't fully ready, so I brought all my stuff and spikes into the bullpen place.  I was seeded for second, but our times were all so close.  We did leg swings and our stretches next to the track.  While doing so, I looked over and noticed Vickie was running her last lap and cheered her on because she did amazing!  As we walked over to the starting area I thought about power-stances that my teammates told me about and tried to stand up tall and straight which actually did give me confidences.  When we finally were able to do our striders I was feeling really good.

Now to the race- It all still feels like a dream because I'm so shocked about the time I got.  We started and I got boxed in a little, which didn't effect me, it made me want to pass them all.  Of course our 200 was fast and on the back stretch I caught the two leading girls.  I stuck with them the second lap.  I was going WAY fast though because I looked up at the screen and remember thinking they were fast, but I felt good!  When we hit the 800 I just went.  That lap felt amazing- a little too amazing.  I was hoping the girl behind me didn't catch me.  The last 400 I was ready to give up, but I felt like giving up wouldn't make the race worth it- I didn't know if I'd be able to keep the pace.  The gun scared me, too.  The last lap I tried sprinting and it was hard.  The final 200 I felt as if I didn't have enough in me, but I just kept going.  I tried to sprint and I could hear a lot of yelling and cheering which I didn't know if it was for me or the girls behind me.  I wish I could have gone faster, but when I finished I knew I put in my all because I was DEAD.  I was so happy, though! Normally after a good race I have a runner's high, but I was so tired my body couldn't get very excited.

All the girls in my heat did amazing, too.  Afterwards, I grabbed my stuff and went on a cool down with Katelyn.  We both had a fun chat and then hung out all day at the track.

We did 3/4 mile warmup, then Coach had us do a 200@r pace, 600@tempo, 300 all out with no break in between.  After that we did a full recovery, then did it again.  My first one was 200) 38 (fast) 600) 2:18 (fast) 300) 1:01.  Everything felt pretty good until the 300s which really sucked.  I mostly couldn't go all out.  After 5 minutes of recovery and getting a drink, I did the next one 200) 39 (fast) 600) 2:21 (barely fast) 300) 1:03.  My throat kind of hurt like I counldn't breathe, but I wasn't sick, it was probably just runner's cough.  I then went on a mile cool down which was nice and easy.

I did a 3/4 mile warmup because I was ready to get going.  The workout was 2x300 all out with full recovery (600m) in between; then, 4x200 r pace with a 200 recovery.  My 300s were pretty great 1) 56 2) 59.  The 200s were also great, but maybe a little too fast: 1) 39 2) 37 3) 36 4) 37.  I then finished off with a mile cool down.

Today was fast and fun.  I did a mile warmup, then a 600 at i pace.  While I was doing the 600, somebody said my name and I turned to see what they wanted, but I couldn't understand them, so I kept going.  That took a couple seconds, but I was right on getting 2:15.  Then I did a 600 recovery.  Next, I did 2x200 r pace.  They were both 38 which is pretty fast, but they did feel really good and easier.  Between and after those I did a 200 recovery.  It was over fast and I did a mile cool down.
