Personal:

When I was young, I ran local fun runs with my family, but nothing more. I watched my dad, mom, and 2 older brothers begin running and decided to try it out. During the spring of 6th grade, I ran 3 miles a couple times a week with my dad and have loved running ever since. I ran local 5ks and even a half marathon. In 7th grade I watched Conner, my older brother, run cross country and decided that I wanted to try it.

High School: Really enjoyed it all so much, grateful for all of the friendships I made while doing it. There were ups and downs, but it was a wonderful experience!

I enjoy running, playing piano, painting, skiing, and hiking. Life is totally worth living. Running my favorite meditation. I ran for Sky View High School. I served a mission in the Adriatic North Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Not yet sure what my plans are with running these next few month, but I am looking forward to an exciting future!

I checked the temperature and it was supposedly 30 degrees, but felt around 25.  Because I was doing a tempo run and I didn't want to overheat I wore a long sleeved shirt and shorts.  When I started, there was a light headwind.  Then, I turned onto another street and there wasn't a headwind for about one and a quarter miles.  My first mile was 6:38 which was right on.  The beginning of my second mile was feeling great and my time was right on, but when I turned at the one and a half mile point there was a terrible, cold headwind.  I tried pretty hard, but my mile ended up being 7:06.  I decided to keep going because I didn't want to stop.  My first half of the third mile sucked- 4:20.  I didn't want to move.  When I had another half mile left, I began going all out hoping to get back on pace.  It ended up being 3:11, which I was happy about, even though that mile ended up totaling 7:21.  I took a 2 minute break to catch my breath.  When I stopped my left calf hurt, I realized I hadn't stretched it before running so I did.  Then, I ran another tempo mile.  I began getting my half mile splits because of the horrible headwinds.  The first half was 3:46 and the second was 3:09 totaling 6:58.  I took minute break and ran another mile.  The first half was 3:50, then 3:08 totaling 6:58.  I was super happy because my pace was better than most attempts to run tempo and it was longer.  I did a cool down mile that was about ten minutes.  It was a really good tempo run.

I can't believe you wore shorts in 30 degrees! I ran a tempo this morning - in San Diego - and wore tights, a long sleeve shirt, a wind breaker, and headband to cover my ears. I thought it would by cold (and by cold I mean 50) but it was near 60! So I overheated!
