Today was blue and white. I got there and wanted to be in "race mode," but I really wasn't. I was nervous because I thought, what if I don't make it onto varsity? We only warmed up 1/4 of a mile because none of us wanted to get going. I didn't know it was girls and boys together until we lined up.
Our start was good, about a minute and a half quarter mile. I did start out slow, but caught up to Megan and Lauren while we were still on the track. We just stuck together. After the second time on the canal, I didn't want to keep going. Lauren and I just stayed together. When we had about 800 left I asked her if we should sprint. She didn't want to. We mostly coasted in until the last 200 when I said, "Let's get under 21:00." She sprinted ahead and beat me by 3 or 4 seconds. My time was 21:01. It felt good and I was happy to be done.
Afterwards we didn't really cool down, maybe a quarter of a mile. I was just happy to be done. I didn't actually feel like I had ran a race, like I wasn't very tired. That was really nice. I knew I could've gone much faster, but didn't.
