Personal:

When I was young, I ran local fun runs with my family, but nothing more. I watched my dad, mom, and 2 older brothers begin running and decided to try it out. During the spring of 6th grade, I ran 3 miles a couple times a week with my dad and have loved running ever since. I ran local 5ks and even a half marathon. In 7th grade I watched Conner, my older brother, run cross country and decided that I wanted to try it.

High School: Really enjoyed it all so much, grateful for all of the friendships I made while doing it. There were ups and downs, but it was a wonderful experience!

I enjoy running, playing piano, painting, skiing, and hiking. Life is totally worth living. Running my favorite meditation. I ran for Sky View High School. I served a mission in the Adriatic North Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Not yet sure what my plans are with running these next few month, but I am looking forward to an exciting future!

We warmed up to where we were doing hills for the day.  It was the upper road, that turned onto the golf course hill. We started towards the bottom and went one minute hard.  I was able to turn onto golf course and I made it to a red fence.  We were told to do 7-9. Clara stuck with me on the first few, which helped.  Although the boys sprinted further up, we ended up recovering with them as they came back down. The first 3 felt really good.  On the fourth, I could feel the acid in my legs.  It started to hurt more and more. Sometimes we were able to start with the boys. The 6th and 7th really hurt, and I didn't nearly make it as far.  I got pretty light headed.  I told myself that if I stuck with Jordan on this last one, I would be good. It was better to do that hard one above 2 bad ones.  I did 8 repeats, and felt pretty good about them. The turnover when it got steep was always difficult, but it helped mentally. It was pretty dry, which didn't help.  My energy was gone at the end. We ran back as a cool down. We did some hip exercises, and getting down on my knee hurt.  It didn't hurt during the run, which was good. After a while, Ethan and I went 3 more miles.  We did 2 on a random loop, then one more on the track.  They weren't super fast, but they felt good. The last lap on the track, I tried barefoot. It was fun, but felt weird. When I got home I did a pretty hard core workout.  I haven't done core in a while, but it went well.

I got new shoes, which might help with my knee. I'm pretty pumped because my current pair had 800+ miles on them.  I got my previous pair in the middle of last summer, so they're pretty worn out.

I had no energy yesterday, so premeet was perfect.  We did 4 miles that were pretty random. Our average pace was 8:30 and the boys were going pretty slow, so Abby and I just hung with them. We did 3 ups, which felt really good. I may or may not run 2 more miles today, we'll see, I've got a lot of homework.

Today was a dual meet against Northridge at home today.  4 hours of sleep the night before definitely was not a smart thing to do before a meet. I warmed up with Kelcee (the sophmore) a mile.  It was pretty nice weather. We did start a little early, but it was still okay. I was not in race mode at all.  I was thinking about shooting for an 11:45 3200 because I didn't want to race a dual meet hard, but Coach told me I should run one race hard and leave it all on the track.  I then got pretty nervous, but the strides helped get everything out. They combined the boys and girls, and coach wanted me to stick with Jordan T and Andrew. We started out way too fast, around a 74 first lap.  The group of guys was still pretty far ahead.  I backed off a bit, and just let my legs go. The first mile was a little over a 5:30.  Everytime I came around, the gap between me and the pack of boys got smaller and smaller. I forgot how long the 3200 was. It just kept going. My body felt pretty great. On the second to last lap, I caught them, but Doyle pulled away. The last lap I sprinted around Jordan N, and stuck behind Jordan T. He pulled away the last 100, and I couldn't catch him. It was nice having the guys push me.  My time was a 11:30.92, so that was good. I was happy, but my body was pretty tired. My hamstrings were pretty tight, so I stretched. I then did a cool down with Ethan, who killed it. We did tree of life.  I didn't want to do the 1600, and I didn't have to. I jogged around with some of the girls who were warming up, then talked to a bunch of people. They were making calls for the 1600, and I decided to do it. I was hoping for a 5:45. While I was trying to get motivated/warmed up, I was saying some random stuff because I was out of it. I was just running in circles, too. When we finally started, I realized that I was racing. I stuck with a Northride girl until the 200, then passed her. My first lap was pretty fast, but I just kept going. The 800 was pretty fast. The last 400, I was right on pace, but I felt good enough to sprint. The last 10 feet Ethan yelled something that caught me off guard, making me giggle and I slowed down. It was okay, though. My time was 5:42.72, so it wasn't as fast as my first mile in the 3200, but it was good for being pretty tired.  I cooled down with Clara, then hung around. It had gotten pretty cold, so I left home early because I was hungry. It was a good meet, but I don't know how sane I was. (Haha, sorry for the super long entry)

I don't know if all of these miles shouldbe considered slow, but we did log and easy. It was pretty chilly, but one we started running we warmed up. The boys were not going fast the first 2 miles, so I just stuck with them. Clara was with us, but turned around early. They then sped up, but I couldn't lose em. We went 4 up Smithfield Canyon. It was a pretty big pack of guys. The last half mile, Connor really pushed the pace, and I barely hung on. At some point we lost coach. When we got to the top, we all stretched. Our average pace going up was a 7:40. They said they were gonna go pretty easy down, so I thought I'd be able to keep up with them. Our pace got faster because going down is much easier. One of our miles was around a 6:43, which is much faster than I had planned. Our average pace was 7:20, which is definitely not long and easy pace for me. It was way fun, though! One thing about runnin with the guys, though, is they're much quieter than girls. I probably talked the most. My knee did start to hurt when we had 1.5 left, which kinda sucked. It was way nice, but I will probably postpone the workout to Saturday so I don't kill my body. I should have done more mileage, but I won't stress about it.

It took me a while to get going, but I started to go long and easy.  1.5 out, I started to feel pretty sick, so I turned around.  Then, my knee was hurting, so I cut up nature trail which only got me to 2.5. A couple hour later, I ran some more, but this time I went up Birch.  Running on the trail didn't hurt as bad.  I got to the second gate, but couldn't got any further due to construction. Hopefully, the trail will still be there when they're done. Coming down, I turned left onto a random trail I had xc skied once and only ran twice.  It was pretty fun, and I knew it somehow looped back to my neighborhood. Going down the hill my knee hurt really bad, so I stopped a few times.  That ended up being only 4, but it was pretty fun exploring. I decided not to push it too far, due to my knee.

I was gonna do tempo, but my knee was still hurting. I decided to try 3 with Ruby, then hope it would feel good enough for tempo. Half a mile out, it hurt really bad, so I finished the loop around the block. I talked to my parents, and they said I should take two days off because it would be better to have a few days out over the whole season. I was super bummed, but I did some core later.
