Personal:

When I was young, I ran local fun runs with my family, but nothing more. I watched my dad, mom, and 2 older brothers begin running and decided to try it out. During the spring of 6th grade, I ran 3 miles a couple times a week with my dad and have loved running ever since. I ran local 5ks and even a half marathon. In 7th grade I watched Conner, my older brother, run cross country and decided that I wanted to try it.

High School: Really enjoyed it all so much, grateful for all of the friendships I made while doing it. There were ups and downs, but it was a wonderful experience!

I enjoy running, playing piano, painting, skiing, and hiking. Life is totally worth living. Running my favorite meditation. I ran for Sky View High School. I served a mission in the Adriatic North Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Not yet sure what my plans are with running these next few month, but I am looking forward to an exciting future!

Might as well get back on the blog, again, haha. It will definitely motivate me. I got my tonsils out a few weeks ago, and it took a bit of time to recover and get back. Ran to sv and back. It was super slick and super slow. 8:20ish average pace. My shoes were dry the whole time until I hit a puddle near my house, haha.

I tried tempo, but it didn't turn out good at all. Warmed up a mile, then went a quarter mile until there was dry roads. The first mile felt decent, my time was a 6:36. The next mile wasn't too great, a bit under 7. I finished the half mile, which was right at a 3:30. I haven't done a workout since before footlocker, so I'm still getting back into things. Cooled down an icy quarter mile, then did some core in the evening.

Rachel, Arianna, and I did golf course backwards. Birch was pretty slick, but it was fun. It was a good, easy run. We flew down 6th which was really fun. When we got back to sv, we talked to the guys and our new coach, which was cool. They convinced us to do 6 strides with them. I don't feel ready enough to race tomorrow, but I was convinced to and I'm not sure what to think about it.

It had snowed while we were at school, and it was super slick. Arianna and I did church run and ran a few detours to get another mile. We were covered in snow, after, but it was well worth it.

It was considered a long run, but I felt great after. Cedarridge backwards, but we extended into north logan.  I just kept going with the guys. 7:35 average pace. Super slushy and wet. Core later

There was some fast, but I don't wanna calculate the mileage, haha. 15 minute warm up, 1 min, 2 min, 3 min, 2 min, 1 min with a minute recovery. Up the canyon. None of us girls felt too great, so we stayed a ways behind the guys. The speed parts felt like they weren't fast enough, but when we turned around, we flew which was fun. We cooled down extra slow with a slight detour.

Track tryouts inside. Lots of core and drills. We did the pace for "distance" and I went until they stopped it which was almost 150. I'll count that as a mile. Then, we ran on the indoor track in between each hurdle drill, so that's around half a mile.

I ran when I felt like it because the Juniors had the act. Ran to sv, did cedaridge backwards, the ran home. 5 for the out and back, 5 for the loop. It may have been an extra quarter mile just adding two courses, but I didn't have my gps watch. I was pretty sore from yesterday, but still felt good. The total time was around 1:17. There were a lot of hills.

We had tryouts outside, and we started with a lap warmup. More drills. It was pretty warm until the end. We did the 400, but none of my group did strides or warmed up, so it was a bit of a shock. We had to stay in lane 3 due to snow. I wasn't really into it, but it was a 1:13. I should have ran after.

Last day of tryouts and it was warmer than yesterday. Lap warmup. More workouts. Instead of the 200, we did the 100 this year. It was pretty bad. After, Harmony did a lap around the track with me because we were cold and bored.

Met at 9 am because there was no school. 2 mile warm up mack-n-back. 6 100m strides. 12x200 all out with a full recovery, or atleast 200m recovery. I don't think I went 100%, but I focused on form. Rachel and Arianna were right in front of me the whole time. My splits were 34, 36, 35, 35, 35, and the last 7 were 36. I still felt really good, but I guess we were dropping so our coach changed it from 20 to 12 repeats. Then, we did 8 100s with a 20m stride into it. I got around 17 each time. Arianna and Rachel were just in front of me each time. We would jog the lap, then start into the next one. It was an okay workout. I feel like I need more tempo, though. Mile cool down around the track.

4 miles up Birch with Ruby in the afternoon. It was really pretty up there. I had only planned to go 3, but it was so pretty, so I just kept running. It felt good to be running on a trail.

5 miles up Birch with Ruby. It was quite warm in the morning. My goal was to keep under a 9 minute mile going up because it's a rough trail with the uphill. Kept under until the last quarter mile. On the way back, had fun flying down, felt super good. 8:38 average pace overall. Passed out for the first time ever an hour later while doing my hair. Note taken: eat and drink food right after you run.

Instead of going to Lagoon, my friends and I went to Hogle Zoo. I only had enough time to really run 3 miles in the morning, and they were faster due to time crunch: 7:44, 7:36, 7:22. I guess it was a good, short progression run. We walked atleast 3 miles at the zoo, haha.

Like Tuesday, I was gonna run, but my plans got changed. I was ready, in my running clothes, but fell asleep on the couch the exact time it would've taken me to run my planned distance. Did a quick core workout, instead. Graduation was fun. Played some ping pong.

Ran later in the day, like around 8:30. It was still pretty warm. I was debating if I wanted to eat dinner before or after, and finally just went. I felt really good. Mile splits were 7:02, 7:00 (downhill), 7:50 (back up the hill), 7:25. I was still super sore from jumping lunges incorporated into my core workout yesterday. Fun staying out all night for graduation parties, but definitely lacking in the sleep department, lol.

Ran up Smithfield in 80 degrees, kinda regret. It was well worth it, but too hot. I got pretty stressed about pace the first quarter mile, but told myself that pace doesn't matter right now, just enjoy running. The run was fun until the last mile up when the heat really hit. Slowed down a ton. Turned around and took it really chill, making it a fun run. 8:20 average pace

Ran Sunnyside in the morning before getting my wisdom teeth out, so I think I'll be taking the rest of the week off, not positive. Fun to run early in the mornings, again. Pumped to start up, again, and build up mileage.

I was in Ghana on a humanitarian trip for 2 weeks and didn't run once. Walked a lot and played some soccer. Attempted to do core, but there were chiggers in the carpet and grass, and the beds were too wobbly, so I gave up quick, haha. So outta shape. 5 miles with the few people who showed up. Golf Course backwards at 8:55 ap. It was really cold and I couldn't breathe too well, haha.

In the morning, I went up Birch, but saw some of the guys and turned around with them. Most of them ran the 15k yesterday, so their pace was pretty slow. Went down smithfield, then I turned home. Golf Course hill killed me, but it was still a solid run. 8:20 ap, so still slow.

In the evening, Conner wanted to run. I had just eaten some coconut cream pie, but running with Conner sounded fun. I'm not near in as good of shape as he is, haha. 3x around the block. Glad we stopped to talk to a neighbor 1/2 way or I'd have died. My body was tense after that, but it was still a solid run. Probably the fastest I've ran since track, haha. 6:53 ap. My shins and calves and back hurt, but  such a fun time.

Glad Arianna got me to come run. We did lower to upper canal. I felt really good the first 3 miles, but not so much after. The trail seemed longer than normal, but we went easy and had fun. My body's still pretty dead and I haven't decently trained since track, haha. Went to the end of the trail. The downhill felt good.

Found a chance to run in the middle of the afternoon. Went up the canyon. My miles were 7:22, 7:54, 7:37, 7:26, 7:57. Barely kept the last (uphill) mile under 8.

5 up Birch in the heat. Tried to keep my average pace under 9 going up, but I had a snake encounter. I didn't see it until I was inches away and did what any teenage girl would do. Scream and back up super quickly. It was just a yellow and black garter, but I was so in the zone, haha. I waited for it to cross the road and caught my breath, then kept going up. I was pretty paranoid after that, so I didn't go so as far up as I was hoping. Kept my average pace going up under 9 and enjoyed the downhill back.

Ran with gc. 7 1/2 minutes of core. Workout on the track. Just pushed Rachel, Abby, and PJ. 4x800, 5x400 @ I pace with a minute recovery. Then, 6x200 @ Rpace with 200 recovery. Rachel took a drink break, so we ran one extra 200 to push her. I only had my gps watch, so getting splits was rough. They ran them all fast, which was awesome. It's fun being able to still run with people, and it's probably the only social life I get, haha.

Took it really easy with no pressure, but I ended up feeling really good! Up Smithfield canyon. Mile splits are all over the place due to hills and what not: 7:14, 7:34, 7:56, 8:12, 7:56, 7:30, 7:47, 7:43, 8:29. Was a super fun, pretty run. I'm so ready for fall!

Same thing as Saturday with Ruby. I didn't run with a watch and enjoyed it. Super beautiful, but muddy. My body was hurting the while time, though. After, I did 30 minutes of core.
